About HerbyBud.
A scored cannabis directory that puts the best strains, products, and brands in front of you, plus licensed dispensaries from state registries.
What we do
HerbyBud is a cannabis reference and directory. We cover strains, terpenes, products, brands, dispensaries, and state and federal cannabis law. We rank strains, products, and brands with one consistent scoring system. Dispensaries are listed, not ranked: our directory comes from official state license registries. Our education pages explain cannabis basics in plain language, and our law pages summarize the rules state by state.
How we score: the 8020 Score
Every strain, product, and brand we rank gets an 8020 Score from 0 to 100. It is a weighted composite of the few factors that matter most for that kind of thing, so a brand is not judged on the same factors as a gummy. Dispensaries get no score. These are the weights we use:
| What we rank | Factors and weights |
|---|---|
| Strains | Potency 30% · Effects 30% · Flavor 25% · Grow 15% |
| Products | Value 30% · Potency 30% · Quality 25% · Availability 15% |
| Brands | Quality 30% · Consistency 30% · Value 25% · Availability 15% |
What the tiers mean
Scores fall into named tiers so you can scan a list quickly:
- Top Shelf: 85 and above
- Solid: 70 to 84
- Mids: 55 to 69
A score changes when the underlying facts change, such as a new lab result, a price shift, or a change in availability.
Putting the best products in front of you
Our goal is simple: help you find the best cannabis for your money. Scores and rankings surface the strains, products, and brands that deliver, so the best picks are the first ones you see. Brands that want their products discovered can work with us.
How we check facts
Scores sit on top of facts, and the facts come first. We research claims against authoritative references, corroborate key facts across at least two independent sources, cite and date them on the page, and describe reported effects rather than medical outcomes. The full process is on our verification methodology page.
